HERO Challenge Two – June 2021

A One Day Event

26 June 2021

Round Two of the keenly contested 2021 HERO Challenge Championship takes crews to a fresh new location for Championship contenders – the Yorkshire Wolds, home of 2020 Hero Challenge Championship winning driver Darren Everitt. A new base near Beverley allows the HERO Competitions Team to make best use of an extensive network of quiet rural roads. This compact event never travels farther than 18 miles from the start/finish venue, and passes through only a handful of villages throughout the day. Bishop Burton College provides us with a perfect new headquarters for our Yorkshire Wolds adventure, and is just 10 miles from the M62 motorway. You will be entertained with five special tests in the Campus, and they will host our lunchtime and post-event buffets.

After the morning coffee halt we are taking you to a historic Yorkshire WW2 airfield for three exciting tests which will give drivers the opportunity to ‘stretch the legs’ of their cars. Navigators will be kept busy during the eight planned regularities, traversing the unique Wolds landscape using straightforward Tulip diagrams, descriptive instructions and a simple map challenge.

The event is graded Blue, which provides crews with simple navigational challenges to allow them to progress to more difficult events. HERO is planning a warm Yorkshire welcome for our Challenge contenders, so enter soon to avoid disappointment.

HERO Challenge - Yorkshire Wolds 2021

Starting at 08:00 crews will take on a mixture of driving tests and regularities before arriving at the finish line for 16:00. Competitors should expect an enjoyable and busy day in the car, with minimum transport sections, scenic regularities and fun driving tests.

Vehicle Information

  • Only cars built pre-1986 or a model available pre-1986 are eligible to enter
  • All cars will be eligible for overall awards unless the crew are deemed to be ‘Masters’
  • The cars will be split into classes based on age and CC
  • The scoring on the test sections is class-based so you will be scoring against other similar aged vehicles
  • Vehicle eligibility is defined in the HERO Standard Regulations

A master will be defined by both crew members in the seat they have entered the event who have finished first overall on a HERO green or blue standard event, in the top three of a red or black event (including Rally of the Tests in the overall positions including non-eligible cars), received the Gold medal on Le Jog or in the top three of a HRCR National B Road Rally in the last 3 years. If a crew begins the 2021 season not as a master, then they will remain a non-master for a period of that season.
