During the pre-war period, Aston-Martin was very focused on ensuring racing success as the most significant owner of the company pre-war, 'Bert' Bertelli, was a both a very successful racing driver and a master at creating a car that excelled at long distance endurance racing. Aston-Martin named this model in honour of success in the Le Mans 24 hour race and these cars were raced in many events with success in period.
This car was discovered in a lockup garage in Manchester in 1988. It was then built up as a Le Mans by Ecurie Bertelli and it has been extensively raced and rallied whilst always maintained by Ecurie Bertelli. It has competed in events all over Europe and at all UK circuits. It has won the prestigious AMOC Horsfall Trophy, several concours events, and raced at Pau and Montlhéry circuits. It has an Ulster-specification 110 HP engine and a close ratio gearbox.
