HERO announces return of the Iberian Classic in 2013

After a break of 6 years Europe's premier classic car event, the London - Lisboa reliability trial and tour, will take place in 2013 between April 27th and May 5th starting from London.


“We are proud to announce the return of the London – Lisboa Classic”, said Tomas de Vargas Machuca, Managing Director of H.E.R.O., the Historic Endurance Rallying Organisation, “It will combine a 2,091 mile route through stunning landscapes with challenging tests and will attract some amazing cars from all over the world. We are planning an unforgettable start from Hyde Park on April 2ih and the first leg will take drivers to HMSVictory before they embark to Saint Malo.”

Further in the competition, drivers will be able to stand on the most westerly point of continental Europe before completing the final leg arriving at the finish line in Lisbon.

The event is open to cars made before 31st December 1983 and welcomes competitive drivers as well as less demanding participants with its two categories, the Reliability Trial and Classic Car Tour.

Competitors on the Reliability Trial will encounter “Tulip” Regularity Sections allowing crew members the chance to enjoy the spectacular scenery of France, Northern Spain and Portugal and have a chance to test their manoeuvra9ilitY,skillS on driving tests at some of the best kart circuits in Europe.

Crews looking for a less demanding motoring holiday are invited to take part in the Classic Car Tour. Led by a dedicated Tour Marshal, they will be able to take a shorter route and be able to linger at places of interest. The only goal will be to visit the main controls at the start and finish of each day’s leg, and to join the Trial crews for lunch.

The entry fee includes accommodation and evening meals, lunch on each day of the event, welcome and prize giving dinners, ferry crossing for UK starters, roadbook, map-book, regalia, numbered door and rally plates and event souvenirs.

For those without a suitable car, the HEROArrive and Drive program provides classic cars available for hire. HEROAssist mechanics will also be in attendance on the event to help anyone who encounters mechanical problems.
