And Now For Something (a bit) Different, In Aid Of Macmillan Cancer Support
HERO-ERA Members Paul and Roma Handley have rallied over 35000 miles in their MGB Roadster, a large proportion having been on HERO events, including the Classic Marathon and two London/Lisbons. Their current rallying plans include looking forward to the 2023 Scottish Malts.
From 22 April to 6 May this year they will be rallying with a difference as they tackle with 40 other cars the ‘14th Cape To Cape Grand Tour’, covering 2700 miles, taking in Cape Cornwall, Cape Wrath (NW Scotland), across to Belfast and to Cape Clear (SW Eire), and back via Dublin to Cape Cornwall. All on scenic roads, navigating ‘on the hoof’ by rally-style roadbook.
The Cape to Cape was conceived by seasoned rallyer Dennis Greenslade. To date a fantastic £910,000 has been raised for Macmillan Cancer Support. This is the very last Tour, and Dennis is hoping to break the £1 million barrier!
The entrants fund all their own expenses; no-one is paid and everything raised goes to Macmillan Cancer Support.
Paul and Roma are appealing for your support; Paul says:
‘In the UK, 1000 new cases of cancer are diagnosed EVERY DAY! This ghastly statistic means we are all going to be affected at some time by cancer, either personally or by the suffering of those we love or know. We wish to play our part in achieving the £1 million milestone for Macmillan Cancer Support. The event is classed as ‘endurance’ and will be a challenge for us and our 55 year old MGB.
